Shehbaz Sharif Joins World Leaders at Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed from Islamabad on Monday morning to take part in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit being held in Egypt. The summit, hosted in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, brings together world leaders and diplomats to sign a long-awaited peace agreement aimed at ending the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
According to official sources, the Prime Minister’s participation is part of Pakistan’s continued diplomatic efforts to promote peace, stability, and dialogue in the Middle East. His visit underlines Pakistan’s longstanding moral and political support for the Palestinian people in their struggle for self-determination and justice.
A Diplomatic Invitation from Egypt and the United States
The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit has been organized at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, who are jointly presiding over the summit. The initiative follows weeks of behind-the-scenes diplomatic engagement that began on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly held last month.
This gathering aims to achieve a breakthrough toward a lasting ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza, and create a roadmap for sustainable peace in the region. Pakistan’s Firm Stance on the Palestinian Cause
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinian people, emphasizing that peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without justice and respect for human rights. He stated that Pakistan has always raised its voice at international forums for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The Prime Minister also commended the efforts of Egypt and other regional partners for facilitating this summit and appreciated the global community’s renewed attention to resolving the Gaza conflict through diplomacy rather than confrontation.
High-Level Delegation Accompanies the Prime Minister
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, along with senior cabinet members and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation will hold bilateral meetings with participating heads of state and foreign ministers to discuss regional cooperation, trade, and humanitarian assistance for Gaza.
During his visit, Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to meet with Egyptian President El-Sisi to discuss Pakistan–Egypt bilateral relations, economic collaboration, and joint efforts for peace in the Islamic world.
