LESCO Moves to Regulate Solar Overgeneration
The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has decided to cancel net-metering licences of consumers who generate more solar power than allowed. Officials said some users were producing excess electricity and feeding it into the national grid, which violates the NEPRA guidelines for renewable energy systems.
Grid Stability and Compliance Focus
According to officails, overgeneration poses risks to grid stability and can disrupt the balance between supply and demand. The company is now using digital monitoring tools to track consumer generation patterns and identify irregularities.
Strict Action for Violators
LESCO has urged all solar users to follow approved capacity limits and system specifications. Consumers found breaching the rules may face licence cancellation, disconnection, or penalties as per regulatory standards.
