Strict Penalties for Unlicensed Drivers
The Karachi Traffic Police have intensified their enforcement campaign, warning that anyone caught driving without a valid licence will face a Rs20,000 fine. DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema said the decision was taken to promote road safety and discipline among motorists.
Vehicle Impoundment for Repeat Offenders
Officials added that vehicles driven by unlicensed individuals could be impounded until the driver presents a valid licence. The new rule is part of the department’s broader effort to curb reckless driving and ensure only qualified drivers are on the roads.
Public Awareness and Compliance Drive
Traffic Police have also launched a public awareness campaign, encouraging citizens to apply for or renew their licences through official centres. The department plans to conduct surprise inspections across major routes in Karachi.
Digital Verification and Monitoring
With the integration of digital traffic monitoring systems, enforcement officers can instantly verify driver credentials and issue e-challans for violations detected through smart cameras.
