Sheikh Rashid Stopped at Islamabad Airport
Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was reportedly stopped from travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah early Friday morning. Airport sources said his name appeared on the Exit Control List (ECL), prompting immigration officials to deny him boarding clearance.
Officials Cite Legal Restrictions
According to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials, the action was taken under legal orders restricting Sheikh Rashid’s international travel. Authorities stated that he had been notified earlier about his travel limitations pending ongoing investigations.
Rashid Calls Move Politically Motivated
In response, He stated that performing Umrah was a personal religious act and should not be obstructed by political motives.
