Anti-Encroachment Operation in Karachi
Karachi authorities launched a large-scale anti-encroachment operation that led to the demolition of around 300 houses in an Afghan settlement area. Officials stated that the structures were built illegally on government-owned land.
Security and Administrative Oversight
Police and local administration teams were deployed to oversee the operation and prevent any untoward incidents. The demolition was carried out using heavy machinery under tight security arrangements.
Residents Protest Demolition
Displaced residents expressed anger and distress over the operation, claiming they were not given prior notice. They appealed to the provincial government to provide alternative shelter or compensation. Authorities, however, maintained that the drive was part of a wider campaign to remove encroachments across Karachi.
