Cyclone Shakti Near Pakistan: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Lash Makran Coastal Highway

Cyclone Shakti Brings Rain and Gusty Winds to Coastal Areas

Karachi: The developing Cyclone Shakti in the Arabian Sea has started to affect Pakistan’s coastline. Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds has been reported along the Makran Coastal Highway and Kund Malir, bringing rough weather conditions to parts of Balochistan.


Cyclone Located 360 km South of Karachi

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Cyclone Shakti is currently positioned around 360 kilometers south of Karachi. The storm is expected to intensify into a severe tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, potentially leading to high waves and strong gusts along Pakistan’s southern coast.


Heavy Rain and High Winds Expected

The PMD has issued warnings for Sindh and Balochistan, forecasting thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and winds reaching speeds of 100 to 125 km/h today and tomorrow. The department also cautioned that coastal areas could experience temporary flooding and power disruptions due to intense weather activity.


Fishermen Warned to Avoid Deep Waters

Authorities have advised fishermen to stay away from deep-sea waters until October 5, as the Arabian Sea will remain extremely rough until October 6. Residents in low-lying coastal districts are urged to remain alert and follow official weather updates for safety.
