Action Against Vehicles Without Emission Stickers
The Punjab government has ordered authorities in Lahore to confiscate all vehicles running without valid emission testing stickers, as part of the province’s ongoing anti-smog campaign.
According to officials, environmental protection teams, in coordination with traffic police, have been deployed across major roads and intersections to conduct random checks. Vehicles emitting excessive smoke or lacking the required testing sticker will be impounded immediately.
Smog Control Measures Intensified
An official from the Environment Department said that the initiative aims to reduce toxic emissions that significantly contribute to Lahore’s deteriorating air quality. The campaign also targets commercial vehicles, including buses, trucks, and rickshaws, that are often found violating pollution standards.
Public Awareness and Penalties
Authorities have urged vehicle owners to get their emission stickers renewed immediately to avoid penalties and seizure. The government is also planning awareness drives to encourage eco-friendly transport practices and regular vehicle maintenance.
