PTI Offers PPP Support in No-Confidence Motion Against Government

In a significant political development, PTI offers PPP support in launching a no-confidence motion against the government, hinting at a potential realignment within Pakistan’s opposition forces.

Former National Assembly Speaker and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser stated that his party is ready to stand by the PPP if it seriously challenges the current government. “If PPP is genuinely interested in bringing change, PTI will fully support a no-confidence motion,” Qaiser said. He also welcomed the PPP’s growing criticism of the ruling coalition, describing it as “a positive step toward political accountability.”

Tensions Between PPP and PML-N Intensify

The offer from PTI comes amid deepening rifts between PPP and the PML-N, triggered by remarks made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Her comments on water distribution and provincial rights sparked outrage among PPP members, who view them as disrespectful and dismissive.

The PPP has since staged multiple walkouts from the National Assembly, including the recent one on Friday. Although government ministers tried to persuade PPP members to return, their anger remains unresolved.

PPP Leaders Demand Apology from Punjab Government

Senior PPP leader Naveed Qamar voiced his frustration, saying, “This is not just Punjab’s country — it belongs to all of us. Statements like ‘our money, our water, our choice’ divide the nation.” Qamar confirmed that the PPP would continue its boycott until an official apology is issued.

Meanwhile, sources close to Raja Pervez Ashraf revealed that the PPP will raise its concerns on the assembly floor once more before another expected walkout. “Until Punjab corrects its behavior, we will not sit silently,” Ashraf reportedly told colleagues.

Security Concerns and Political Protests

Adding to PPP’s anger, security for the party’s parliamentary leader in Punjab has been withdrawn. The party calls it “political victimization” and a deliberate attempt to pressure opposition members.

Ashraf emphasized that participation in the assembly is impossible under the current circumstances. “We want dialogue, not disrespect,” he stated, calling on the federal and Punjab governments to act responsibly.

Exchange of Remarks Between PPP and PML-N Ministers

The war of words continues. Sindh’s Information Minister Sharjeel Memon accused the Punjab government of arrogance, while Punjab’s Information Minister Uzma Bukhari fired back, saying Punjab does not need “outside interference.”

She remarked, “When we hold local elections in Punjab, they will be fair and transparent — not like the bogus ones in Karachi.” This back-and-forth has further widened the political divide between the two major parties.

Political Impact of PTI’s Offer

Analysts suggest that the way PTI offers PPP support could reshape Pakistan’s opposition politics. If both parties unite on a no-confidence motion, it could significantly challenge the ruling coalition’s stability.

For now, PPP has not formally responded to PTI’s offer, but insiders say the idea is being seriously discussed. The political climate remains tense, with opposition forces exploring alliances to strengthen their position ahead of future elections.
