Strong Tremors Reported Across Southern Region
A 7.4-magnitude earthquake jolted the southern Philippines, shaking homes and prompting residents to flee buildings in fear. The tremors were felt across Mindanao and nearby islands, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
Authorities on High Alert
Officials have placed disaster response teams on standby as assessments continue in affected regions. Although some minor structural damage has been reported, there have been no confirmed reports of major casualties.
Tsunami and Aftershock Precautions
While initial earthquake warnings were issued for coastal areas, authorities later downgraded the alert. Experts have cautioned residents to remain vigilant as aftershocks are expected in the coming hours.
