Pakistan Chinese Weapons Showcase Exceptional Performance
Pakistan has officially highlighted the performance of Chinese weapons systems during the May 2025 clash with India, calling them exceptionally effective. The ISPR Director General, Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated that these weapons marked the first major operational deployment of modern Chinese-made systems in Pakistan’s military arsenal.
Key platforms include J-10C fighter jets, credited with downing multiple Indian aircraft, including French Rafales, and the Z-10ME attack helicopter, which enhanced Pakistan’s border defense capabilities.
Operational Success of Pakistan Chinese Weapons
During the conflict, J-10C fighters Pakistan and Z-10ME helicopters excelled in air combat and precision strike operations. Gen Chaudhry confirmed Pakistan had downed seven Indian aircraft, while no Pakistani planes were lost.
The J-10C fighters provided advanced maneuverability, while Z-10ME helicopters contributed to rapid response and border security, demonstrating Pakistan’s growing reliance on Pakistan Chinese weapons for operational readiness.
Conflicting Claims and Strategic Procurement
India disputes Pakistan’s figures, claiming to have destroyed Pakistani aircraft instead. Despite this, Pakistan emphasizes a balanced procurement strategy, acquiring defense equipment from China and Western nations, prioritizing platforms that are effective, efficient, and cost-effective.
Pakistan’s defense budget of $10.2 billion, compared with India’s $86.1 billion, shows a focus on strategic modernization without engaging in a full-scale arms race.
