PM&DC Moves Toward Transparent Testing
In a significant development, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has decided to reform the MDCAT examination system, introducing a series of changes to ensure greater fairness and accountability in medical entry testing.
Key Changes in the New System
According to a PM&DC spokesperson, the new system will include computer-based testing (CBT), centralized question banks, and standardized evaluation criteria across provinces. The move aims to eliminate discrepancies and create a level playing field for all candidates.
Enhanced Monitoring and Evaluation
The council also plans to deploy AI-assisted monitoring tools and real-time evaluation systems to prevent paper leaks and malpractice. These reforms are part of PM&DC’s broader strategy to align Pakistan’s medical education standards with international best practices.
Student-Centered Approach
Officials added that the new MDCAT framework will focus on student convenience, including flexible scheduling options, improved test centers, and transparent score reporting. The reforms are expected to be implemented from the next admission cycle.
