Punjab Government Law and Order: Sweeping Reforms Announced Under Maryam Nawaz Sharif
The Punjab government law and order policy has entered a new era, with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launching a set of comprehensive measures aiming to strengthen public security and restore the authority of the state across the province. At the third extraordinary law and order meeting, the Chief Minister made clear that Punjab would no longer tolerate extremist activities, illegal arms possession, or networks involved in corruption and unlawful residency.
Zero Tolerance for Extremism and Illegal Residency
Central to the Punjab government’s reforms is the introduction of a zero-tolerance policy against extremism and illegal residency. Chairing the recent meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated emphatically that all activities undermining public safety would be met with immediate and uncompromising action.
The province has instituted strict enforcement of the Loudspeaker Act, targeting misuse for incitement or unlawful assembly. More importantly, every district now hosts whistleblower cells to encourage citizens to report extremist groups or illegal foreign residents. By calling the dedicated Punjab Police Helpline 15, residents can provide vital information, supported by a special call center equipped for rapid response.
Furthermore, the campaign against illegal weapons is being intensified. Police and district administrations have been directed to trace and confiscate unlicensed arms throughout Punjab. Peace committees—charged with supporting ongoing operations—will play an active role in helping communities stay safe and informed.
Empowering Citizens with Mobile Policing and Whistleblower Support
Building on Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision of a “state at the doorstep,” the Punjab government law and order overhaul puts the community at the heart of policing. The expansion of mobile police stations means law enforcement services are now more accessible than ever before—bringing prompt assistance and direct engagement to neighborhoods and remote settlements.

Under the new rules, the Punjab government law and order policies strictly prohibit the display of advertisements, posters, and placards by extremist organizations.
