Pakistan Afghanistan Ceasefire Agreed to Ease Border Clashes
The Pakistan Afghanistan Ceasefire was officially implemented on Wednesday following an agreement between Islamabad and the Taliban regime in Kabul. The truce, which will last for 48 hours, aims to de-escalate recent border hostilities that have heightened tensions between the two neighboring nations.

Foreign Office Confirms Pakistan Afghanistan Ceasefire
Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan confirmed the Pakistan Afghanistan Ceasefire during a press briefing in Islamabad. He said the decision demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and its willingness to resolve issues through diplomacy.
“Both sides will make sincere efforts to find a positive solution to this complex but solvable issue through constructive dialogue,”
said Shafqat Ali Khan, highlighting that Pakistan remains open to negotiation despite ongoing provocations from across the border.
The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan values stability and cooperation with Afghanistan but reserves the right to defend its sovereignty against any form of aggression.
Ceasefire Follows Pakistan Army’s Precision Strikes
The announcement of the Pakistan Afghanistan Ceasefire came shortly after the Pakistan Army conducted precision strikes in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province and Kabul. The operation, carried out earlier this week, targeted militant positions accused of launching cross-border attacks on Pakistani security forces.
According to state broadcaster PTV News, security sources confirmed that key Taliban hideouts were destroyed during the strikes.
“Pakistan Army’s retaliatory action against Afghan Taliban aggression resulted in the destruction of Battalion Number 4 and Border Brigade Number 6,”
said the official statement, adding that dozens of foreign and Afghan operatives were neutralized.
The military clarified that these were retaliatory operations, not acts of aggression, and were conducted strictly within the framework of self-defense under international norms.
