Islamabad Suicide Blast Near G-11 Kutchehry Claims 12 Lives, Dozens Injured in Tragic Attack

Islamabad Suicide Blast Rocks Federal Capital

The Islamabad Suicide Blast that struck near the G-11 Kutchehry on Tuesday has left the nation in mourning. According to official sources, at least 12 people were martyred and 27 others sustained injuries when a suicide bomber detonated himself outside the judicial complex at around 12:39 pm. The explosion, which targeted a police vehicle, caused significant damage to nearby cars and motorcycles, spreading panic throughout the area.

Immediately after the blast, law enforcement agencies and rescue teams reached the scene, cordoning off the area and launching an investigation into the devastating attack. The head of the suicide bomber was later found on a nearby road, confirming the nature of the explosion.

Swift Rescue Operation and Medical Response

A large contingent of Islamabad Police, Rangers, and forensic teams arrived shortly after the blast to secure the site and assist the victims. Rescue 1122 and Edhi Foundation ambulances rushed the injured to PIMS Hospital, where doctors worked tirelessly to stabilize their condition.

According to PIMS spokesperson Dr. Mubashar Dha, 36 injured individuals were brought to the hospital following the Islamabad Suicide Blast. Eighteen of them were discharged after receiving first aid, while fourteen were declared out of danger and moved to general wards. Four victims remain in critical condition under intensive medical care.

The spokesperson further revealed that ten of the twelve deceased victims have been identified, while the process continues for the remaining two. The atmosphere at the hospital remained tense as families of the victims gathered to locate their loved ones.

Eyewitness Accounts Describe Scenes of Chaos

Eyewitnesses recounted harrowing scenes from the G-11 Kutchehry explosion. Lawyer Rustam Malik told reporters, “As I parked my car and entered the complex, I heard a massive blast at the main gate. Everything was covered in smoke, people were screaming, and several cars were on fire.”

Another lawyer, Mohammed Shahzad Butt, described the scene as “complete chaos,” adding that he saw multiple bodies near the entrance as people fled the area in panic.

The explosion reportedly occurred when the attacker on a motorcycle approached a police vehicle stationed near the main gate. The blast set nearby vehicles ablaze, damaging several others parked close to the spot.

Authorities Launch Full-Scale Investigation

Following the Islamabad Suicide Blast, the District Administration, DIG Islamabad, and forensic experts reached the site to gather evidence. The entire area has been sealed off as security personnel collect debris, analyze CCTV footage, and document witness statements.

A NADRA team was dispatched to assist in identifying the bomber through biometric verification, while forensic specialists are examining materials found at the blast site. Initial findings suggest the use of high-grade explosives commonly employed in previous militant attacks in the region.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s Response

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the blast site soon after the incident and received a detailed briefing from the Inspector General of Police. Speaking to the media, Naqvi confirmed that the Islamabad Suicide Blast was carried out by a terrorist who initially tried to enter the district court but detonated the explosives outside after failing to do so.

“At 12:39 pm, a suicide attack was carried out at the district courts, resulting in 12 martyrs and around 27 injured,” Naqvi stated. He emphasized that identifying the bomber and uncovering the network behind the attack are top priorities for the authorities.

Naqvi further alleged that terrorist elements trained in Afghanistan were behind the incident. “We have already shared evidence with Afghan authorities about such training camps. Pakistan cannot tolerate these hostile actions any longer,” he said.

The minister also announced that within the next two weeks, no vehicle will be allowed to enter Islamabad without a digital tag, as part of enhanced security measures aimed at preventing future attacks. He reiterated that those responsible for orchestrating the bombing “will have to pay the price.”

Connection to Broader Security Concerns

According to intelligence sources, early investigations point toward a militant organization known as Fitna al-Khwarij, believed to be operating with support from external networks. The same group has been linked to previous terrorist incidents, including the Wana Cadet College attack earlier this year.

Authorities are examining whether the Islamabad Suicide Blast was coordinated with other recent attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Law enforcement agencies are maintaining high alert across major cities, while border security has been intensified.

The Interior Minister noted that Pakistan has consistently provided evidence to neighboring countries regarding cross-border involvement in such attacks, urging stronger regional cooperation against terrorism.

Prime Minister’s Directives and Ongoing Operations

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured. He praised the swift response of law enforcement agencies and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country.

Meanwhile, clearance operations are ongoing in multiple regions, including Wana, where another suicide blast occurred recently. Security forces have sealed several entry and exit points around Islamabad to prevent any further threats.

Nation Mourns Yet Remains Resilient

The Islamabad Suicide Blast has once again highlighted the persistent security challenges facing Pakistan. Despite these tragic events, the nation remains united in its resolve to combat terrorism. Tributes continue to pour in for the victims and their families, with citizens and leaders alike calling for peace, vigilance, and solidarity.
