Major Technological Milestone for Pakistan

Pakistan is preparing to launch its first Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS-HS) on October 19, a project spearheaded by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). The mission will strengthen Pakistan’s capability in earth observation and environmental data collection.

Enhancing National Infrastructure and Research

The new satellite will enable detailed imaging of land, agriculture, and water resources, providing critical insights for disaster management and resource planning. Experts say it will also assist in climate studies and urban development projects.

Step Toward Space Self-Reliance

With this launch, Pakistan joins a select group of nations with hyperspectral imaging technology. SUPARCO officials highlighted that the mission reflects Pakistan’s commitment to advancing scientific research and technological independence.
