Launch of Teen Accounts on Instagram

In a joint initiative, PTA and Meta have introduced the ‘Teen Accounts’ feature on Instagram for users under the age of 18 in Pakistan. The feature automatically limits unwanted interactions and protects privacy for teen users.

Key Safety Features

Teen Accounts come with enhanced privacy controls, including options to restrict messages from unknown users, limit visibility of posts, and enable parental oversight. The platform also provides educational content on digital safety to help young users navigate social media responsibly.

Government’s Role in Online Safety

PTA officials emphasized that the partnership with Meta is part of a broader effort to regulate social media, promote responsible usage, and safeguard minors against cyberbullying, harassment, and online exploitation.

Public and Educational Outreach

Meta and PTA plan to launch awareness campaigns in schools and online platforms to educate teens and parents about safe social media practices. Experts believe such initiatives are crucial for protecting youth while encouraging healthy digital engagement.
